Fleetbridge FVT-2020 User GuideUpdated 3 months ago

Installation

Before you begin:

  • Ensure the device has a clear view of the sky and good cellular coverage.
  • Turn off the vehicle's ignition.

What you'll need:

  • 8-10 mm wrench
  • 3M double-sided adhesive sticker (included)

Steps:

  1. Locate a flat surface on top of the vehicle's battery, facing the front. Clean the area and apply the adhesive sticker.
  2. Stick the device to the battery, ensuring the arrow faces the front of the vehicle.
  3. Loosen the battery bolts slightly to slide in the metal connector.
  4. Install the cables:
    • Red cable to the positive battery pole (PWR)
    • Black cable to the negative battery pole (GND)
  5. Tighten the battery bolts securely.
  6. Start the ignition. The red LED should illuminate for 30 seconds, then turn off.

Troubleshooting

  • Device offline or malfunctioning?
    • Verify good cellular coverage and a clear view of the sky.
    • Check for secure cable connections (no loose cables or corrosion).
    • Ensure the red LED illuminates with ignition on. If not, replace the fuse (spare provided).
    • Contact Fleetbridge support for further assistance.
  • Recently installed device shows Calgary location?
    • Allow 20-30 minutes for retriangulation. The device requires ignition during its initial charge to determine location (battery connection alone is insufficient).

Battery Life

The FVT-2020 has a backup internal battery for temporary operation without external power. However, it's designed for continuous vehicle power.

  • Current Draw:
    • 50mA (internal battery charging)
    • 10mA (sleep mode)
    • 30mA (communication)
  • Internal Battery Only:
    • 4 hours at 50mA (charging)
    • 20 hours at 10mA (sleep mode)
  • Primary Power Source: Vehicle battery
  • Backup Battery Function: Transmits a "power disconnect" message in case of power outage (limited to 1-2 location updates after disconnection).

Additional Information

  • Operating Voltage: 8V to 32V
  • Non-ignition Tracking Interval: Every 12 hours
